USA Today: Amazon's health care experiment shows exactly why we need Medicare for All
We have to remove profit from the health care equation, just like Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway and JPMorgan Chase intend to do.
More Americans are realizing that our current healthcare system is unsustainable. This includes some business owners like Richard Master who argued in USA Today that Amazon’s announcement that it will create a healthcare company is another example that our system is fundamentally broken.
Having a private system is not good for business owners who have to pay around $27,000 their employees and their family. This is a significant cost on business that entrepreneurs would like to avoid. The current healthcare system is a drain on everyone’s resources and a universal healthcare plan would greatly alleviate the stress.
Master also argues that the decision by Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway, and JP Morgan, proves that insurance companies are just too expensive. Since their goal is to profit costs are much higher than they need to be putting added strain on business. Medicare for all is a solution that will be good for everyone.
